I was originally a nursing student with eventual inclination to computer-related studies of which one I am a graduate of. From taking an Associate in Computer Technology (ACT) short course program, which I was a graduate of, I also have undertaken higher education courses namely Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT). Thanks to these educations, most of what I know came from these courses mentioned.
As was a student of technical background in computer, I have some knowledge in using languages only a computer (or its interpreters or compilers) would understand -- programming languages. Finding myself lacking in experience to pursue a career in programming as a computer programmer (which came to my mind at some point), I resorted to a language anyone can relate to -- human language. Utilizing my skills with the semantics and syntax of human language in written format similarly seen in programming languages albeit at a different structure, I find myself loving writing as a writer in place of coding as a programmer. I believe in part of pursuing a career in writing is due to the frustration of not becoming a programmer. However, the feeling waned as I get to love writing -- which still is to this day.
It all boils down to passion. Whatever you do in life, in the end what you like doing best is the one that drives you -- that's passion! You can be a programmer, a painter, or maybe, a writer. It all depends on your passion in life.
Not all writers write because he knows how to. In fact, everyone can, it's even taught at school as early as preschool, maybe. Writers write because it is their passion as much as artists do. You can, after all, regard writers as artists too. Although a common craft as compared to other forms of art such as painting and sculpting, writing is both an art and a craft as seen in its carefully written words in prose or verse.
Even as a student, I know myself to have a knack for writing which may have started as early as a child although at that time not too apparent as it never was my habit to write. However, there are instances I find myself reading which eventually become a habit that it is today. Both writing and reading are a necessary practice to becoming not just a writer, but a good writer. Writing out of leisure, I have been an active writer on the internet posting from anywhere I could write on -- be it a simple conversation or a specific thread of information. Ironic as it may seem, I believe the ideas mentioned are to be the starting point of my writing career.
However, my writing career has not started until I worked for a specific individual writing. It started as a simple Facebook post type-of-job-advertisement looking for a writer which I inquired upon. Later after that, I got hired as a freelance writer to write. My first and official work as a writer online. Ironically enough, my starting working experience as a writer has been that of sculpting -- from what is deemed rough, I chiseled until it got polished. Such sculpting of a writing has been a necessary experience to patch up what was inherently flawed with my writings. I got inspired (to write).
My writing started out rough at first, but given my educational background with the language, I easily grasped what is rough with my writing and polished on it. Even as a second language, English is a familiar medium for me and hence my usage of it.
Doing freelance works as a blogger, I was familiarized with using WordPress as a blogging platform. I am familiar with it in both interface and functionality.
Six months (or close to) have passed since I started out with my writing career as a freelance writer, I had undergone many projects as both a freelance writer and previously a full-time content writer. It has its difficulties no doubt but those are a necessary training with my writing of which I am glad I had experienced. Now confident in my writing skill, I am still pursuing writing as a chosen career.
Very much active on the internet as a writing contractor, I can be found on any of the following job portal sites: onlinejobs.ph, 199Jobs.com, jobsdb.com, jobstreet.com.ph, jobopenings.ph, and odesk.com.
